Epistaxis in children and adolescents with hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia
The Laryngoscope Dec 01, 2017
Gonzalez CD, et al. - This trial encompassed the elucidation of epistaxis onset and severity in pediatric hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia (HHT) patients. Researchers also examined the cumulative incidence of epistaxis by age of onset within each genetic subtype. An early presentation of epistaxis could be noted in HHT, being typically mild, however, in the pediatric period. Findings revealed worse severity in the pediatric population among patients with HHT1. Community providers and otolaryngologist could aid in the early detection of HHT by discovering the importance of even mild, infrequent epistaxis in a child with a family history of HHT, and be comprehending that not all HHT patients presented with epistaxis during childhood.
