Epidemiology of pediatric multidrug-resistant tuberculosis in the United States, 1993â2014
Clinical Infectious Diseases Oct 19, 2017
Smith SE, et al. - This study aimed at estimating multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) burden among children in the United States during 1993Â2014. There was only one-quarter of pediatric TB cases who had culture-confirmed TB, this might be contributing to underestimation of true pediatric MDR-TB burden in the United States using strictly bacteriologic criteria. They identified the necessity of better estimates of pediatric MDR-TB burden in the United States and recommended including clinical diagnoses based on epidemiologic criteria.
