Epidemiology of basal and cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma in the U.K. 2013–15: A cohort study
British Journal of Dermatology May 10, 2019
Venables ZC, et al. - Utilizing linkage to diagnostic codes that came from pathology reports in the national cancer registry, researchers identified a cohort of patients with keratinocyte cancers (KCs) between 2013 and 2015 to estimate the incidence of basal cell carcinoma (BCC) and cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (cSCC) in the UK. The first BCC and cSCC PPPA's European age-standardized incidence rate in 2013-2015 was 285 and 77, respectively, per 100,000 person years in the UK. Between 2013 and 2015, the mean annual percentage increase was 5% for both BCC and cSCC. A more representative incidence of KC is presented based on an improved methodology, which is essential for healthcare planning and will lead to a better understanding of KC's epidemiology.
