Epidemiology of atrial fibrillation in patients with cirrhosis and clinical significance: A meta-analysis
European Journal of Gastroenterology & Hepatology Mar 10, 2019
Chokesuwattanaskul R, et al. - Using Medline, Embase, and Cochrane Database from inception through July 2018, researchers carried out a meta-analysis to examine the pooled prevalence and/or incidence of atrial fibrillation (AF) in cirrhosis patients and to evaluate the risk of AF mortality in cirrhosis patients. Using a random-effect model, pooled incidence with 95% confidence interval (CI) was calculated. Seven cohort studies have been identified, including 385,866 cirrhosis patients. The estimated overall prevalence of AF in cirrhosis patients was 5.0%. A statistically significant increased mortality risk was found in cirrhotic patients with AF.
