Epidemiology and clinical features of pustular psoriasis: A 15-year retrospective cohort
The Journal of Dermatology Sep 22, 2021
Tosukhowong T, Kiratikanon S, Wonglamsam P, et al. - Findings of a 15-year retrospective cohort study showed the presence of generalized pustular psoriasis (GPP) in four out of every five pustular psoriasis (PuP) patients, and essential precipitating factors included corticosteroid withdrawal, upper respiratory tract infection, and pregnancy. In addition, one out of every three patients had coexistence with other psoriasis variants. Acitretin continues to be the mainstay of systemic therapy.
A total of 60 patients with different PuP subtypes were analyzed.
The most prevalent subtype (80.0%) was GPP, followed by acrodermatitis continua of Hallopeau (13.3%) and palmoplantar pustulosis (6.7%).
Oral acitretin (60.0%) and topical corticosteroids (98.3%) were noted as the most prescribed systemic and topical treatments, respectively.
Narrow-band ultraviolet B was used to treat only two patients.
