Enhancement pattern of hepatocellular adenoma (HCA) on MR imaging performed with Gd-EOB-DTPA vs other Gd-based contrast agents (GBCAs): An intraindividual comparison
European Journal of Radiology Aug 10, 2019
Cannellaa R, Brancatellib G, Rangaswamy B, et al. - Via a retrospective, Institutional Review Board-approved study conducted in a single institution of 17 individuals (all females) with at least one pathologically-proven 35 hepatocellular adenoma (HCA) who underwent liver MRI with Gadoxetic acid (Gd-EOB-DTPA) and another gadolinium-based contrast agents (GBCAs) within 1 year, researchers performed an intraindividual comparison of the enhancement pattern of HCA on dynamic MRI study received after the injection of Gd-EOB-DTPA and other GBCAs. No notable variation in lesion size and enhancement on hepatic arterial or portal venous could be ascertained. More frequently hypointensity on 2 minutes and 4-5 minute images acquired following the injection of Gd-EOB-DTPA was exhibited by HCAs in comparison with those obtained following other GBCAs. A pseudocapsule was more frequently observed following the administration of Gd-EOB-DTPA. In conclusion, the enhancement pattern of HCA varied significantly following the injection of Gd-EOB-DTPA when compared with other GBCAs. Moreover, when using Gd-EOB-DTPA, lesion hypointensity on 2 minutes and 4-5 minute images was more prevalent.
