Enhancement pattern of hepatocellular adenoma (HCA) on MR imaging performed with Gd-EOB-DTPA vs other Gd-based contrast agents (GBCAs): An intraindividual comparison
European Journal of Radiology Oct 01, 2019
Cannella R, et al. - Through a retrospective, Institutional Review Board-approved study carried out in a single institution, researchers conducted an intraindividual comparison of the improvement pattern of hepatocellular adenoma (HCA) on dynamic MRI study received after the injection of Gadoxetic acid (Gd-EOB-DTPA) and other gadolinium-based contrast agents (GBCAs). The final population comprised of 35 HCAs. No important variation in lesion size and enhancement on hepatic arterial or PVP was found. HCAs displayed more often hypointensity on 2 min and 4–5 minutes images acquired following injection of Gd-EOB-DTPA in comparison with those obtained following other GBCAs. A pseudocapsule was more often seen following the administration of Gd-EOB-DTPA. Hence, it was concluded that the enhancement pattern of HCA varies significantly following the injection of Gd-EOB-DTPA in comparison with other GBCAs. Further, when using Gd-EOB-DTPA, lesion hypointensity on 2 min and 4–5 minutes images are more prevalent.
