European Archives of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology May 27, 2019
Garzaro M, et al. - The objective and subjective data on 276 patients affected by deviated nasal septum, who underwent traditional (147) or endoscopic (129) septoplasty were analyzed. Outcomes of this prospective observational study support the efficacy of both techniques in reducing nasal obstruction and related symptoms. However, the endoscopic approach was associated with fewer overall complications. In addition, an improved field of view, less mucosal damages and a more anatomic dissection were achieved with the endoscope. Finally, for assistants, residents and students, such approach can be valuable as a teaching tool.
