Ohno A, Miyoshi J, Kato A, et al. - Researchers in this study sought to find easily-evaluated endoscopic findings that suggest the existence of gastric cancer following Helicobacter pylori (HP) eradication. They found 43 patients who had endoscopic submucosal dissection for early gastric cancer following HP eradication and 119 patients with an HP eradication history who had esophagogastroduodenoscopy for a medical examination and evaluated their endoscopic images. For screening patients for gastric cancer following HP eradication, findings suggested that endoscopic severe gastric mucosal atrophy (A2 score in the Kyoto classification of gastritis, O1–O3 score in the Kimura–Takemoto classification) is useful.
