Endoscopic prediction of advanced histology in diminutive and small colorectal polyps
Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology Aug 11, 2018
Iwai T, et al. - Researchers conducted this study to analyze endoscopic predictors of advanced histology in diminutive and small colorectal polyps. For inclusion, consecutive subjects with adenomatous polyps (< 10 mm) removed endoscopically from January 2013 to December 2014 at a single tertiary cancer center were eligible. Six endoscopic predictors (loss of lobulation, heterogeneity in mucosal patterns, non-polypoid growth, white spots, surface redness, and irregular capillary pattern) for advanced histology in diminutive or small colon polyps were identified. The findings suggested that diminutive and small polyps lacking these predictors would not be considered for advanced histology.
