Endoscopic endonasal approach for sinonasal and anterior skull base malignancies in the elderly
Head & Neck Apr 24, 2018
Lepera D, et al. - Researchers presented the outcomes of endoscopic transnasal resection for sinonasal and anterior skull-base cancers in elderly patients. They divided the patients into 2 groups, <70 years old and ≥70 years old and compared by univariate analysis. As per findings, low mortality and morbidity rates were noted with the endoscopic transnasal approach even in geriatric patients, and age itself was not to be considered as a contraindication. In elderly patients, histology, stage, surgical margins, and surgical approaches were seen to be independent predictors of survival.
