Endocan: A novel marker of endothelial dysfunction in C1-inhibitor-deficient hereditary angioedema
International Archives of Allergy and Immunology Oct 31, 2017
Demirturk M, et al. - In this study, researchers measured endocan (also called ESM-1) and vascular cell adhesion molecules (VCAM)-1 levels in patients with hereditary angioedema (HAE) in order to investigate endothelial activation in attack-free periods. Findings indicated that an endothelial activation may be reflected by increased endocan and VCAM-1 levels even in attack-free periods in HAE patients.
