Kerr M, et al. - This study was executed to estimate causes and place of death and cost of hospital care for people with chronic kidney disease (CKD) in England in the final 3 years of life. As compared to those without CKD, people with CKD were less likely to die at home. Irrespective of the place of death, the condition was associated with increased hospital costs at the end of life. An association was highlighted between home death in CKD and a substantial reduction in hospital costs at the end of life.
