Emu oil-based lotion effects on neonatal skin barrier during transition from intrauterine to extrauterine life
Clinical, Cosmetic and Investigational Dermatology Aug 19, 2017
Zanardo V, et al. – This research examined the effect of emu oil–based lotion on neonatal skin barrier, during a transition from intrauterine to extrauterine life. A single application of an emu oil–based lotion was discovered to be effective in improving heel stratum corneum hydration. This, in turn, increased the both skin pH and elasticity without any effect on temperature. Advanced studies were warranted to ascertain the long–term beneficial effects of this treatment in a very sensitive patient population.
