RBM10-TFE3 renal cell carcinoma characterized by paracentric inversion with consistent closely split signals in break-apart fluorescence in situ hybridization: Study of ten cases and a literature review

Histopathology Mar 29, 2019

Kato I, et al. - In this study involving 10 patients with RNA binding motif protein 10 (RBM10)-transcription factor E3 (TFE3) renal cell carcinoma (RCC) aged 31–71 years, researchers characterized the clinicopathological characteristics of RBM10-TFE3 RCC. According to results, the tumors displayed strong nuclear immunoreactivity for TFE3. Findings suggested that RBM10-TFE3 RCC carcinogenesis could be linked to chronic kidney disease in some, but not all, patients. Since five patients experienced metastases, the aggressive nature of RBM10-TFE3 RCC needs to be considered.
