LRP5 gene polymorphisms and radiographic joint damage in rheumatoid arthritis patients

Osteoporosis International Jul 21, 2018

Bernardes M, et al. - Given that bone mineral density (BMD) and rheumatoid arthritis (RA) joint destruction are partially inherited, authors assessed their relationship with lipoprotein receptor-related protein-5 (LRP5) single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs). They collected the clinical data and peripheral blood for biomarkers assessment and LRP5 genotyping from 208 RA patients. In RA, the evidence of bone destruction heritability was reinforced by the significant associations between LRP5 SNPs (p.A1330V, p.N740N, and p.V667M) and the severity of radiographic damage.
