IL17RA in early-onset coronary artery disease: Total leukocyte transcript analysis and promoter polymorphism (rs4819554) association

Cytokine Sep 19, 2020

Coto E, Pascual I, Avanzas P, et al. - Given that the interleukin-17 (IL-17) pathway would have a crucial role in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis as well as coronary-artery disease (CAD), researchers investigated whether common the IL-17RA transcript may be differential expressed in the leukocytes from CAD patients and healthy persons. In total leukocytes of 55 patients and 50 controls, all smokers, experts ascertained the relative amount of the IL-17RA to ACTB transcript. Findings revealed that CAD-patients had higher levels of the IL-17RA transcript and this finding supports that IL-17 pathway has a role in the pathogenesis of coronary atherosclerosis.
