Auris Nasus Larynx Aug 28, 2019
Chen M, et al. - In this prospective study, researchers evaluated the prognostic impact of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection in patients with a laryngeal precancerous lesion. For this investigation, they arranged 41 recruited patients with laryngeal precancerous lesion into H. pylori-positive group (n = 16) and H. pylori-negative group (n = 25). Using the Univariate Cox proportional hazard model and Cochran–Mantel–Haenszel test, the prognostic impact of H. pylori infection was analyzed. According to findings, a malignant transformation-relevant role of H. pylori in the laryngeal precancerous lesion. H. pylori infection combined with laryngopharyngeal reflux, size of the lesion, and pathological type may be associated with recurrence of the laryngeal precancerous lesion. And modifications of lymphocyte counts and neutrophils to lymphocytes ratio linked to H. pylori infection might deserve as a predictive indicator of poor laryngeal precancerous lesion prognosis.
