Helicobacter pylori infection associated with an increased risk of colorectal adenomatous polyps in the Chinese population
BMC Gastroenterology Jan 25, 2019
Chen C, et al. - In the Chinese population, researchers studied the association of gastric Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) with colorectal adenomatous polyps (CAP). For this investigation, 1,375 workers from China Petroleum and Chemical Corporation Sinopec Zhenhai Refining & Chemical Branch were recruited. Carbon-13 urea breathes test and colorectal biopsies have been used to detect H. pylori and CAP. The population consisted of 1375 subjects, 180 of which were diagnosed with colorectal biopsies as CAP, and the remaining 1195 subjects were classified as a healthy control. Findings suggested an association of HPI with an increased risk of CAP in the Chinese population.
