Helicobacter Aug 13, 2018

Silva GM, et al. - In this prospective cohort study, researchers analyzed the local pattern of first-line antimicrobial resistance and the rate of eradication by analyzing data of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infected patients treated at Centro Materno-Infantil do Norte from January of 2013 to October of 2017. In this northern Portuguese pediatric center, a high resistance rate of H. pylori for clarithromycin was found, with no resistance for amoxicillin and levofloxacin, which result in contraindicating the use of clarithromycin as a first-line treatment for H. pylori infection in children. Data reported that a high eradication rate, which might be explained by the treatment being tailored according to antimicrobial susceptibility.
