Helicobacter pylori and the risk of dementia: A population-based study
Alzheimer's & Dementia Jun 27, 2018
Fani L, et al. - A population-based cohort study was performed to examine the relationship between H. pylori serology and dementia risk. For this analysis, H. pylori serum IgG titers were measured in 4,215 nondemented members of the Rotterdam Study with a mean age of 69 years between 1997 and 2002. Results revealed that 529 participants developed dementia, of whom 463 had Alzheimer's disease during a median follow-up of 13.3 years. Researchers reported that H. pylori was not correlated with dementia risk in this community-dwelling population.
