BRAFV600E mutations and immunohistochemical expression of VE1 protein in low-grade serous neoplasms of the ovary
Histopathology Jul 11, 2018
Turashvili G, et al. - The expression of VE1 protein in low-grade serous neoplasms (LGSNs) and its relationship with BRAF mutation-associated histological features and BRAF mutation status were examined in this analysis. Pathology reports and available slides from ovarian serous borderline tumors (SBTs) and low-grade serous carcinomas (LGSCs) diagnosed between 2000 and 2012 were reviewed. Researchers reported that BRAFV600E mutations were significantly more common in SBTs vs LGSCs. Findings revealed that the immunohistochemical expression of VE1 protein was correlated strongly with BRAFV600E mutation and BRAF mutation-associated histological features. For the detection of BRAFV600Emutations, VE1 immunohistochemistry was a reliable method.
