Elevated serum fibrinogen degradation products on admission is a novel predictive factor for recurrence of chronic subdural hematoma
World Neurosurgery Jul 20, 2018
Hori YS, et al. - Researchers assessed how recurrence rate is associated with serum coagulation-related factors (eg, D-dimer or fibrinogen degradation products [FDP]) in chronic subdural hematoma (CSDH) via assessing 92 patients who experienced first-time CSDH treated with burr-hole hematoma evacuation. For the recurrence of CSDH, elevated serum FDP on admission is a predictive factor. They recommend careful follow-up of these patients and considering recurrence within 30 days after the first operation.
