Elevated platelet distribution width predicts poor prognosis in gallbladder carcinoma
Cancer Management and Research Jun 14, 2021
Liu F, Hu HJ, Regmi P, et al. - Researchers analyzed 303 patients with gallbladder carcinoma (GBC) who received curative surgery between January 2005 and February 2017, to investigate how platelet distribution width (PDW) correlates with prognosis of GBC. They found a significant correlation between increased PDW and AJCC stage. In survival analysis, a worse prognosis was observed in patients with PDW> 14.95 vs patients with PDW 14.95. Thus, poor prognosis in GBC can be predicted by elevated PDW, and further studies are warranted to confirm the dependability as well as to clarify the exact molecular mechanistic of PDW in GBC.
