Jain A, et al. - An inquiry was set up with regard to the mitochondrial DNA copy number and mitochondrial DNA integrity in pediatric acute lymphoblastic leukemia. It was noted that the copy number could be assessed as a potential marker for therapeutic efficacy and a higher mitochondrial DNA copy number could serve as a poor prognostic marker. This data was indicated via marked decreases in mitochondrial DNA copy number with therapy.
