Elevated mean platelet volume to platelet ratio predicts advanced fibrosis in chronic hepatitis C
European Journal of Gastroenterology & Hepatology Mar 10, 2020
Gozdas HT, et al. - Researchers conducted the study for analyzing the role of hemogram parameters in anticipating advanced liver fibrosis in chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) individuals. Participants in the study were patients who had percutaneous liver biopsy due to chronic HCV infection between 01.01.2011 and 01.08.2019. According to Ishak method, liver biopsies were evaluated. Of the 81 chronic HCV individuals, 38 cases were in the mild fibrosis group and 43 cases were in the severe fibrosis group. Findings suggested that mean platelet volume to platelet ratio in chronic HCV patients can be a simple and realistic biomarker to gain preliminary insight into advanced fibrosis.
