Elevated expression of Tiam1 is associated with poor prognosis and promotes tumor progression in pancreatic cancer
OncoTargets and Therapy Aug 01, 2018
Ding MN, et al. - In the present study, researchers identified T-cell lymphoma invasion and metastasis inducing factor 1 (Tiam1) expression levels as well as examined its underlying molecular mechanism in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). Using immunohistochemistry, Tiam1 protein expression levels in PDAC tissues were analyzed. High Tiam1 expression was correlated with histological grade, lymph node metastasis, and lower 5-year overall survival in PDAC. They found that the downregulation of Tiam1 was correlated with reduced cell proliferation and decreased migratory and invasive capability. The findings from the present study suggested that high expression of Tiam1 plays a significant role in the progression of PDAC and might be a potential biomarker of poor prognosis, as well as a therapeutic target.
