Elevated central venous pressure is associated with increased mortality and acute kidney injury in critically ill patients: A meta-analysis
Critical Care Mar 11, 2020
Chen CY, et al. - Researchers investigated if there exists a link between elevated central venous pressure (CVP) and increased mortality and acute kidney injury (AKI) among critically ill adult patients, by performing a meta-analysis of 15 cohort studies. The included studies were identified from PubMed and Embase. By employing a random-effects model, the summary odds ratio and 95% CI were estimated. Studies that examined the link between CVP and mortality and/or AKI among critically ill adult patients admitted into the intensive care unit, were included. Findings revealed that an increased risk of mortality and AKI was observed in correlation with elevated CVP among critically ill adult patients who were admitted into the intensive care unit.
