Electronic cigarette use among survivors of smoking-related cancers in the United States

Akinboro O, et al. - Researchers sought to determine the prevalence of electronic cigarette (e-cigarette) use among smoking-related cancer survivors in the United States. In addition, they assessed its associations with cigarette smoking and smoking quit attempts. Data from the 2014–2017 annual cycles of the National Health Interview Survey were enquired yielding data of 3,162 smoking-related cancer survivors. Current e-cigarette use was prevalent in 3.18%. Among cigarette ever smokers, e-cigarette use was identified to be correlated with a lower likelihood of being a former smoker/having quit smoking; there was no correlation of e-cigarette use with smoking quit attempts was noted.
