Electronic cigarette use among survivors of smoking-related cancers in the United States
Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention Sep 19, 2019
Akinboro O, et al. – In this study, researchers investigated the prevalence of e-cigarette use among smoking-related cancer survivors in the United States. In addition, they assessed how it is associated with cigarette smoking and smoking quit attempts. From the 2014-2017 annual cycles of the National Health Interview Survey, researchers gathered data from 3,162 survivors with self-reported history of smoking-related cancer(s). E-cigarette use was reported in 3.18%. They observed a lower likelihood of being a former smoker/having quit smoking in correlation with e-cigarette use among cigarette ever-smokers, and there was no association of e-cigarette use with smoking quit attempts.
