Electrocardiography scar quantification correlates with scar size of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy seen by multidetector computed tomography
Clinical Cardiology Jun 20, 2018
Bignoto TC, et al. - Researchers theorized that, in cases of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), a significant association exists between electrocardiography (ECG) scar quantification and the extent of myocardial delayed enhancement in multidetector computed tomography (MDCT). To test this, they performed a routine clinical assessment and echocardiography, 12-lead ECG, and MDCT study in patients with HCM, including those with and without an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator. They found a reliable quantification of myocardial fibrosis was enabled by the Selvester QRS score. In addition, a good correlation of the Selvester QRS score with MDCT was observed in patients with HCM. They also noted that the QRS score demonstrated 84.8% sensitivity and 88.8% specificity when compared with MDCT.
