Electrocardiographic left ventricular hypertrophy predicts recurrence of atrial arrhythmias after catheter ablation of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation
Clinical Cardiology Jun 15, 2018
Li SN, et al. - Considering the independent predictive value of left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) for new-onset atrial fibrillation, researchers assessed if LVH can predict the recurrence of arrhythmia after radiofrequency catheter ablation (RFCA) in patients with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (PAF). They consecutively enrolled 436 patients with PAF undergoing first RFCA and clustered them into 2 groups based on electrocardiogram (ECG) findings: non-ECG LVH (218 patients) and ECG LVH (218 patients). Results showed a strong and independent predictive value of the presence of ECG LVH for recurrence in patients with PAF following RFCA.
