Elective vs early elective surgery in diverticular disease: A retrospective study on the optimal timing of non-emergency treatment
International Journal of Colorectal Disease Mar 18, 2018
Warwas FB, et al. - During this study, experts pursued a comparative analysis of the in-hospital outcomes of early elective and elective laparoscopic sigmoidectomy due to diverticulitis. No variation was illustrated in the outcome between elective and early elective cases. Data exhibited optimal operation durations in both cases that appeared to be 50% shorter compared to those recorded previously. The inference drawn was that an early elective operation presented as a good treatment option, particularly for individuals suffering from complicated diverticulitis.
