Efficiency of laparoscopic one-step revision of failed adjusted gastric banding to gastric sleeve: A retrospective review of 101 consecutive patients
Obesity Surgery Jul 12, 2019
Thomopoulos T, et al. - Researchers investigated the long-term outcomes in correlation to the one-step revision of laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding (LAGB) to another restrictive procedure, such as laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG). They retrospectively reviewed charts from 133 revisional LSGs for failed or complicated LAGB. On excluding 32 patients for loss to follow-up, 101 patients were included (85 women and 16 men; mean age 48.5 years; mean body mass index of 47.1 kg/m2) in this work. Outcomes support the safety and appropriateness of single-stage conversion to LSG for failed or complicated LAGB with good long-term weight loss.
