Efficacy of ultrasound-guided transversus abdominis plane (TAP) block for postoperative analgesia in laparoscopic gastric sleeve resection: A randomized single blinded case control study
Surgical Endoscopy Jun 08, 2018
Mittal T, et al. - Researchers aimed to determine the efficacy of the TAP block in controlling postoperative pain in laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy. In addition, they assessed postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV), time to ambulate, readiness for discharge, and whether it leads to improved patient satisfaction. Observations suggest that in morbidly obese patients undergoing bariatric surgery, ultrasound-guided transversus abdominis plane block is a feasible, minimally invasive technique and can be a part of an effective multimodal analgesia.
