Efficacy of topical latanoprost in the treatment of eyelid vitiligo: A randomized, double blind clinical trial study
Dermatologic Therapy Nov 27, 2019
Dailami KN, Hosseini A, Rokni GR, et al. - Researchers examined whether topical latanoprost is effective as a treatment for vitiligo patches around the eyelid. They performed a randomized, double-blind, clinical trial study including 31 patients with vitiligo vulgaris and focal vitiligo involving the eyelids. Patients were randomized to receive either topical latanoprost gel twice daily for 12 weeks, or the placebo with the same protocol. The groups had almost similar severity of the disease that was assessed using the VIDA rating system. Relative to the group receiving placebo, the group treated with latanoprost showed improved pigmentation and had a significant reduction in the symptoms of the disease. Based on these findings, they suggest latanoprost as an effective treatment option for vitiligo disease involving eyelids.
