Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology Oct 05, 2021
Ahramiyanpour N, Saki N, Akbari Z, et al. - According to this systematic review, the cysteamine cream appears to be similarly effective in treating melasma while causing relatively modest and temporary side effects.
The PubMed, SCOPUS, ISI Web of Science, and Embase databases, as well as the Cochrane, Cochrane, and Proquest databases, were exhaustively searched for English papers testing the effects of the topical agent described.
After three rounds of screening, eight studies (five RCTs, two case reports, and one case series) were included, the majority of which were conducted in Iran.
When measuring decreased melanin content and satisfaction rates, statistical significance was found.
