Efficacy of superb microvascular imaging for diagnosing acute cholecystitis: Comparison with conventional ultrasonography

Ra JC, et al. - The diagnostic performance of ultrasonography (US) plus superb microvascular imaging (SMI) compared with the conventional US alone for diagnosing acute cholecystitis was assessed in this analysis. Participants in the study were 54 subjects with suspected biliary disease. Results revealed that the SMI pixel count was significantly higher in acute than in non-acute cholecystitis. Compared with the conventional US for acute cholecystitis, US plus SMI could objectively improve diagnostic performance.
