Efficacy of single-shot adductor canal block combined with posterior capsular infiltration on postoperative pain and functional outcome after total knee arthroplasty: A prospective, double-blind, randomized controlled study
Journal of Arthroplasty Apr 10, 2019
Wang Q, et al. - In this study of patients undergoing unilateral primary total knee arthroplasty (TKA), the efficacy of single-shot adductor canal block (ACB) combined with posterior capsular infiltration (PCI) vs multimodal periarticular infiltration analgesia (PIA) in treating postoperative pain was evaluated. Outcomes revealed lower resting VAS (visual analogue scale, used to assess postoperative pain) scores at 8 and 24 h after surgery, and lower VAS scores during motion within 48 h after surgery among patients treated with ACB and PCI. Outcomes thereby suggest achievement of a reduction in postoperative pain sooner after TKA using ACB combined with PCI, without affecting postoperative functional recovery and increasing complications.
