Efficacy of single-injection unilateral thoracic paravertebral block for post open cholecystectomy pain relief: A prospective randomized study at Gondar University Hospital
Local and Regional Anesthesia Aug 09, 2017
Fentie DY, et al. – This study was performed to test the notion that a single–injection thoracic paravertebral block (PVB) attenuates pain scores, decreases opioid consumption, and prolongs analgesic request time following cholecystectomy. Findings demonstrated that in patients who underwent cholecystectomy, a superior postoperative analgesia was achieved in those who received single–shot thoracic PVB as a component of multimodal analgesic regimen, compared with the control group, up to 24 postoperative hours and, hence, single–shot thoracic PVB was recommended for post cholecystectomy pain relief.
