Efficacy of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) for tinnitus: A retrospective study
ENT Journal Jun 18, 2021
Yang H, Cheng G, Liang Z, et al. - Through reviewing records of tinnitus patients seen at the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hospital from January 2016 to May 2017, researchers evaluated the response of tinnitus to treatment with repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) and identified factors influencing the overall response. One hundred ninety-nine tinnitus patients were included in the study, with 88 (44.2%) males and 111 (55.8%) females. All patients were given rTMS treatment. The treatment of tinnitus with rTMS is effective, but its efficacy is affected by the duration of the tinnitus. Tinnitus patients are encouraged to seek rTMS treatment as soon as possible because therapy was more effective in those with a disease duration of less than 1 week.
