Efficacy of platelet-rich plasma in androgenetic alopecia patients
Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology Dec 09, 2018
Butt G, et al. - Experts evaluated the efficacy of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) as an alternative treatment option for the androgenetic alopecia (AGA) patients. They included a total of 30 patients (20 men and 10 women) with AGA in the study between February 2017 and November 2017. Findings suggested efficacy of PRP in androgenetic alopecia as indicated by higher hair density, satisfactory physician and patient global assessment scores, and increase in terminal to vellus hair ratio. On first visit (before treatment), the mean hair density was 34.18 ± 14.36/cm2 which was increased to 50.20 ± 15.91/cm2 after 6 months of first treatment.
