Efficacy of platelet poor plasma gel in combination with fractional CO 2 laser in striae distensae: A clinical, histological and immunohistochemical study
Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology Apr 05, 2021
El‐Sayed Gad S, El‐Hamd Neinaa YM, Rizk OK, et al. - In this prospective, double-blinded, randomized, comparative study, researchers contrasted the therapeutic effectiveness and safety of intradermal injection of plasma gel in combination with fractional CO 2 laser vs fractional CO 2 laser alone in striae distensae (SD). This research included 36 SD patients who received 3 sessions (one session/1.5 months) of fractional CO 2 laser treatment on all SD lesions after intradermal injections of plasma gel on one side and saline (as a placebo) on the other. Findings suggested that plasma gel combined with fractional CO 2 laser could be a promising new treatment modality for SD. Plasma gel not only improves the efficacy of fractional CO 2 laser but also reduces the occurrence of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
