Efficacy of interventions to prevent physical and sexual dating violence among adolescents
JAMA Dec 03, 2021
Piolanti A, Foran HM, et al. - Among adolescents, implementation of prevention programs could represent an effective strategy to reduce physical dating violence, however, unclear evidence on sexual violence outcomes emphasizes the necessity for further research studies.
This is a systematic review and meta-analysis of 18 randomized clinical trials including 22,781 adolescents, to evaluate the efficacy of prevention programs for sexual and physical dating violence among adolescents.
A significant reduction in overall physical and sexual violence (odds ratio OR, 0.78) was gained as a result of implementation of interventions targeting dating violence among adolescents.
However, when assessed as separate outcomes, a significant decrease was identified for physical violence only (OR, 0.74).
