Efficacy of growth hormone treatment in children with type 1 diabetes mellitus and growth hormone deficiency - An analysis of KIGS data
The Journal of Pediatrics Apr 19, 2018
Bonfig W, et al. - Experts scrutinized the first-year treatment growth response and growth hormone (GH) dosage in prepubertal patients with the combination of type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) and growth hormone deficiency (GHD). Findings reported similar short-term response to GH therapy in subjects with T1DM who then developed GHD and in those with GHD alone. The inference drawn was that T1DM did not compromise GH response in children with GHD and ought not to exclude GH treatment in these children. Therefore, GH treatment was considered to be safe in both subgroups of patients.
