International Journal of Medical Sciences Sep 18, 2017
Maheshwari A, et al. - An inspection was pursued of the free and total testosterone levels, sperm profile and morphology, sexual health, mood and mental alertness, and broad spectrum safety parameters of Furosap (FS) in males following supplementation over a period of 12 weeks. FS, enriched in 20% protodioscin, was discovered to be safe and effective in attenuating testosterone levels, healthy sperm profile, mental alertness, cardiovascular health and overall performance in the individuals.
Methods
- Institutional Review Board (IRB) and other regulatory approvals were yielded.
- The design of this trial was one-arm, open-labelled, multi-center study.
- The enrollees included 50 male volunteers (age: 35 to 65 years) examined over a period of 12 weeks to invesigate the efficacy of FS (500 mg/day/subject) on free and total testosterone levels, sperm profile, sperm morphology, libido and sexual health, mood and mental alertness, and broad spectrum safety parameters.
Results
- An improvement was noted in the free testosterone levels up to 46% in 90% of the study population.
- 85.4% of the enrollees displayed improvements in sperm counts. Sperm morphology improved in 14.6% of volunteers.
- Maximum enrollees exhibited improvements in mental alertness and mood.
- A marked improvement was also observed in the cardiovascular health and libido.
- An analysis was performed of the extensive safety parameters including blood chemistry data.
- There were no notable variations in serum lipid function, cholesterol, triglyceride, HDL and LDL levels, hemogram (CBC), hepatotoxicity and nephrotoxicity.
