Efficacy of fractional CO2 laser treatment in postmenopausal women with genitourinary syndrome: A multicenter study

Filippini M, Luvero D, Salvatore S, et al. - Via conducting a retrospective, multicenter study after collecting data from a preexisting database, researchers investigated the efficacy and effectiveness of 2 laser">CO2 laser in postmenopausal women with clinical signs and symptoms of genitourinary syndrome of menopause (GSM), in particular, vulvovaginal atrophy (VVA). Further, they appraised both possible early and late side effects related to this kind of treatment. Data from 645 women who met the inclusion criteria were considered. All the women enrolled in this protocol received three to four 2 laser">CO2 laser treatments. For the vaginal area, a fractional 2 laser">CO2 laser system (SmartXide2 V2LR, Deka m.e.l.a., Florence, Italy) with a VulvoVaginal Laser Reshaping (V2LR) scanning system and appropriate handpieces were used. As per outcomes, in postmenopausal women with GSM, the effectiveness and a good degree of tolerance of treatment with the 2 laser">CO2 laser system were supported.
