Matsuoka K, et al. - Researchers sought to evaluate the efficacy of Bifidobacterium breve strain Yakult (BFM) for maintaining remission in Japanese patients with quiescent ulcerative colitis (UC). Relapse-free survival and incidence of relapse did not significantly vary between the BFM and placebo groups. It was deduced that BFM had no effect on time to relapse in UC patients compared with placebo.
