Hwang SH, et al. - This study carried out a re-analysis of the effect of dexmedetomidine on perioperative morbidity following nasal surgery and on the adverse effects of dexmedetomidine. A decrease could be noted in the intraoperative and postoperative pain without adverse effects such as nausea, vomiting, and respiratory depression with the systemic administration of dexmedetomidine. In addition, dexmedetomidine could decrease the analgesic consumption. The clinicians ought to be cautioned regarding the potential for intraoperative bradycardia.Patient education was recommended regarding these possibilities.
