Efficacy of contrast-enhanced EUS for lymphadenopathy: A prospective multicenter pilot study
Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Mar 29, 2019
Yoshida K, et al. - In this prospective multicenter pilot study, researchers assessed the effectiveness of contrast-enhanced endoscopic ultrasound (CE-EUS) in differentiating malignant from benign lymphadenopathy. For this investigation, they prospectively enrolled patients undergoing EUS-FNA (fine needle aspiration) for abdominal or mediastinal lymphadenopathy. Data reported that the sensitivity, specificity and accuracy of the qualitative assessment in B-mode EUS were 77%, 17%, and 59%, respectively. Overall, the investigators suggested that CE-EUS with the combined qualitative and quantitative analyses for lymphadenopathy could be useful in complementing regular EUS and EUS-FNA.
